As it approaches its sesquicentenary in 2020, Limerick Regatta is Limerick's second oldest sporting event only surpassed in longevity by Limerick Races. This history chronicles the pageantry and colour of the event on the docks where the regatta was for many years one of the highlights of the Limerick social calendar, the brief spell in Killaloe where the regatta was often beset by unrowable conditions due to easterly winds, and finally O'Briensbridge where the event has operated from its new base for the past thirty five years. In addition it contains a full list of the individual winners from 1870-1970.
